[About] Why Sunmi’s full name is now “Lee Sunmi”

Hello everyone,

I’m sure that some are still confused over this matter so I’m here to give you all a clear explanation on why Sun Mi’s full name  is now, “Lee Sun Mi”.

Since debut, she has clarified that her name is only 2-characters which is ‘Sun Mi’, where ‘Sun’ is her surname name while ‘Mi’ is her given name. Unlike the other members who have 2-character given names.

However, later on she decided to adopt her step-father’s surname which is ‘Lee’ into her name. Instead of changing it to “Lee Mi”, she kept her biological father’s surname is ‘Sun’ in her name as well. So her full name is now ‘Lee Sunmi’.

Lee(stepfather’s surname) + Sun(biological father’s surname) + Mi(given name)

Which will be seen as Lee(surname) Sun Mi(given name) in her identification card (:

    i read that her biological dad had passed away before she debut. is that true?

    Her father passed when she’s young right?
    Do u know about her other 2 brothers? They are children of her stepfather or her father ?

    yes, he passed away when sunmi was still pretty young.

    yup. Sorry but I can’t confirm if her brothers are the children of her stepfather or real father tho :/

    I would clarify it further to say her last name is Lee Sun and her first name is Mi. writing it as Lee Sunmi makes it sounds like her name is Sunmi.
